1. Who We Are

BreakFree AI ("we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application developed by NovaMind Technologies. We can be reached at privacy@breakfreeai.app.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the BreakFree AI mobile application ("App") and our website at breakfreeai.app.

2. Medical Disclaimer

BreakFree AI is not a medical application and does not provide medical advice. The App is intended for general wellness and motivational support only. It is not a substitute for professional medical treatment, therapy, or counselling. If you are struggling with addiction or substance use disorder, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.

The AI coaching feature provides general motivational support and does not constitute medical, psychiatric, or psychological advice.

3. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Name and email address (when you create an account)
• The habit type you choose to track (e.g. alcohol, smoking)
• Your quit start date and time
• Journal entries you write in the app
• Mood scores you log
• Daily spend amount you enter
• Messages you send to the AI coach

Information collected automatically:

• Device type, operating system version, and app version
• Anonymous usage analytics (screens visited, features used)
• Crash reports (if the app crashes)
• Approximate country/region (for currency detection)

Information we do NOT collect:

• Your precise GPS location
• Your contacts or address book
• Your camera or microphone (unless you explicitly grant permission for a feature)
• Health data from Apple Health or Google Fit (unless you opt in)

4. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the App and its features
• To sync your streak, journal, and settings across devices
• To power the AI coach conversations (messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API — see Section 6)
• To send push notifications about your streak (only if you grant permission)
• To process subscription payments via RevenueCat and Apple/Google billing
• To improve the App using anonymised analytics
• To respond to your support requests
• To comply with legal obligations

5. Data Storage and Security

Your account data, streak history, and journal entries are stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL database) hosted on servers in Singapore. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified.

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). We use Row Level Security (RLS) on all database tables — meaning your data is cryptographically isolated from other users at the database level.

Subscription and payment information is handled entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your payment card details.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Anthropic Claude API — Powers the AI coach. Your messages to the coach are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. Messages may be used by Anthropic to improve their models per their Privacy Policy. We recommend you do not share personally identifying information in AI coach messages.
• Supabase — Database and authentication. Privacy Policy
• RevenueCat — Subscription management. Privacy Policy
• PostHog — Anonymous usage analytics. Privacy Policy. We use PostHog in anonymous mode — no personally identifying information is sent.
• Apple / Google — Sign-in and billing.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

We may share your information only in these limited circumstances:

• With service providers listed in Section 6, solely to operate the App
• If required by law, court order, or government authority
• To protect the safety of users or the public
• In connection with a merger or acquisition (you will be notified)

8. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access all data we hold about you — email privacy@breakfreeai.app
• Export your journal entries and streak history from Settings > Export Data
• Delete your account and all associated data — Settings > Delete Account. This is permanent and cannot be undone. Deletion is processed within 30 days.
• Opt out of analytics — Settings > Privacy > Analytics
• Turn off push notifications — your phone's Settings > Notifications > BreakFree AI

9. Children's Privacy

BreakFree AI is intended for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with their information, contact us at privacy@breakfreeai.app.

10. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked to you.

11. International Users

BreakFree AI is available globally. If you are located outside India, your data may be transferred to and processed in Singapore (where Supabase servers are located). By using the App, you consent to this transfer. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place per applicable data protection laws.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you via email or an in-app notification for material changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
